Just when you thought MK couldn’t get any bigger, he releases a track so huge that it could have it’s own zip code. The LA based producer’s take on Kant’s “Ey Yo” comes in true MK style with infectious drum programming and jackin house influences made for peak-time play.

So happy that the one and only Marc Kinchen, aslo known as MK, is back on the scene. This remix is a clear indication of of why he was respected in the early days and celebrated in the present days… it’s absolute FIRE! Dripping in his signature sound, this version is all shuffling percussion, massive pianos and layers of attitude.

Available on Island Records, March 10th, 2014

The latest sprout in Rob Da Bank’s (Bestival, the radio) verdant garden of musical diversions kicks off this week in East London.

LEAF (the London Electronic Arts Festival) is a new entry into the burgeoning ‘talkin technology n’ techno’ events category – a five day, mini-Amsterdam Dance Event but with more people from Essex.

A few highlights for us:

  • The Point Blank Masterclass with MK, Kindness (Adam Bainbridge), Kevin Saunderson and Dantiez Saunderson
  • A casual banter with Terry Farley (Boy’s Own), Keith Riley (Fabric), James Priestley (Secretsundaze) on London Nightlife then, now and later on
  • Omar Souleyman at The Laundry
  • And a set by a guy at Oval Space. They call this guy…. *click, click, click, click* …. Georgio (Moroder)
  • A new A/V installation piece from Dinos Chapman at the Shoreditch Electric Light Station

NYC’s darling solo act Sky Ferreira broke through 2012 with a lush, catchy single, “Everything is Embarrassing”, accompanied by a video where she “pouts and vogues across the city”.

The track’s success has been followed with a string of excellent remixes, including a recent addition from LA’s MK, whose spacious and icy rework lends itself to late night dance floor romance.

Sky Ferreira’s Everything is Embarrassing EP is out March 24 on Polydor.

Preview MK’s remix below and if you’re reading from the London area, check the upcoming February dates:
